According to the days of the year calendar, it is Fortune Cookie Day.  Maryann has challenged us to use this to inspire an Oriental themed card.

CCEE1836 Shadow Box Card

Our hostess for the month of September is Maryann.

Here is our challenge from her:  Shadow Box Card.  This card has been around for a lot of years but lately I have noticed some modern twists to it, so give us your version of a shadow box card.

CCEE1834 Ride The Wind Day

Frances tells us:

Today is apparently Ride the Wind Day.  This day was created to celebrate the first man-powered flight.  There are so many things that rely on wind to make them work, so let's include something that needs wind on our cards today.  Some examples include kite flying, windsurfing, hang gliding, sailing boats, birds flying, hot air balloons, balloons, paper airplanes, etc.

Butterflies fly, but save their energy by coasting on air currents.

OMG!

When I took a look at Facebook to see what was happening with my children and grands...........
this is what I saw:

These CRAZY boys, Tyler, Tommy (our grandson), and John

were back on earth from 14,000 feet!!!!!!!!!!! 
It's a good thing no one told me in advance what these boys were planning!  I'm afraid of heights, so Tommy didn't his risk taking from me.  They had such a good time they'll be doing it again.  YUCK!!

CCEE1833 Bees

Frances tells us Saturday (August 18) is World Honey Bee Day.  She challenges us to include a bee or two on our cards this week.

Today I made a Clean And Simple (one layer) card, using the rubbed crayon embossing technique.

From Frances, "Tomorrow is World Lion Day.....Lions are also often referred to as the "King of the Jungle", so let's see some jungle animals appearing on our cards this week...bonus points if you include a lion.

Congratulations to our Tommy!

Congratulations to our grandson Tommy Chisholm, who last night had a board of review, and is now an Eagle Scout!!!  We couldn't be prouder!!   Here is our handsome young man:

He has just moved his name from Life Scout to Eagle on the display board of his Troop.  His Court of Honor will be held during the Thanksgiving school vacation.

Way to go, Tommy!

CCEE1831 Coloring

Our hostess for the month of August is Frances.  She says " apparently today, August 2nd, is Coloring Book Day.  Coloring books are popular for both young and old.  For our challenge today use an image on your card that needs to be colored......bonus points for those who have coloring books and uses an image from one of those for your card today."

CCEE1830 National Refreshment Day

Lynn's last challenge to us:

One way to beat the heat of summer is with a cold refreshment.  Do you cool down with a glass of lemonade, a rainbow snowcone, an ice cream cone, a cold bottle of beer?  Whatever it may be, share with the CCEE Stampers your favorite cool-down treat in your design this week.

For years I didn't eat ice cream.  It just never appealed to me.  Then........Hot Flashes struck, my body temperature changed, and now I LOVE ice cream.  Who knew????

Lynn says, "July 12 has been declared National Simplicity Day in honor of Henry David Thoreau who was a devoted advocate of living a life of simplicity.  So on this lazy day of summer, my challenge to you is to create a clean and simple one layer card!"

I die cut the stitched window into the front of a folded white card, then stamped the image through the window into the inside.  One layer, easy peasy!
