CCEE1713 Lyrics/Van Gogh

Vincent
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They did not listen, They did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
These are the lyrics of an old favorite song Lynn asked us to use for inspiration...........Today is Vincent Van Gogh's 164th birthday.

I kept the colors blue and gray, and was inspired by the line ...
"Sketch the trees and the daffodils"

First College Visit!

How can it be possible that Tommy is visiting colleges???  Our grandson, who wants to be a Doctor, has been deluged by college pamphlets after seeing his PSAT scores.  I think he will end up going to a school where he feels comfortable.  My DD and DSIL are smart to take him as soon as possible.  He's involved with Driver's Ed, and doing his Eagle Project for Boy Scouts, so his time is at a premium.  Here he is in Connecticut, at  Univ. of New Haven with the mascot.

I'll keep posting as he goes on his journey.  (We heard that there was an excellent presentation and tour, and that the food was good.  All important features!)

More good news......while Tommy was in CT, big sister Erin was here.  She is on break from Culinary School where she is a Senior.  Her GPA is 3.97.  How sweet is that!!!  What fab grands we have!

CCEE1712 Puppy

Can anyone resist the cuteness of a puppy, man's best friend?  In honor of National Puppy Week, find some of your cutest images of a puppy and feature it on your card this week.

Isn't this the cutest thing???  I love this image from Mo Manning!  This goes to my DGD Sam, away at college.

CCEE1711 Buttons

National Button Week is coming up, so our challenge is to make use of buttons or faux buttons on our projects.  We could even make a box or jar in which to keep some of our favorite buttons.

I used real glass buttons on this Vintage button card, illustrated by Mucha.  I love his images!  The buttons are Vintage too.

CCEE1710 Bubbles

According to Lynn, this is National Bubble Week.  Our challenge is to make a bubble card.  This might include making use of a technique like painting with bubbles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVOCt5b1sPM) or bubble wrap on a brayer, or a bubble stamp or image of children blowing bubbles.  She says to use our imagination for whatever it brings to mind.

I used an AI image...these gals are using large balls for exercise, but they reminded me so much of bubbles that I couldn't resist using them with the cute saying,
"May your day bubble over with happiness"

CCEE1709 OLD!

In honor of "old stuff" day, Lynn, our hostess for March has challenged us to:

"make a card or project making use of some of your earliest stamps of your collection, or make use of old supplies in your stash, or a Vintage image of something from the past.

I guess this fits the criteria of something from the past.  When I was little, my grandparents took me to a place in NH for a week that only had a "privy".  I got a kick out of it, but was glad to come back to civilization!
