CCEE1405 U is for Umbrellas

Sabrina's last challenge to us for January is the following:
"Here in Ireland it rains at this time of year. A lot. Umbrellas are very important.  Bonus points if you also bring good raingear along:D, but sunshades and beach umbrellas are also perfectly suitable for the challenge."
Here's what I did.

I found this wonderful image online, and printed it three times.  I popped up the entire umbrella and the bunnies first.  The 2nd layer has the two bigger bunnies popped, and the upper part of the umbrella.  I hope you can see all the popped up parts.

I think this will make a cute Easter card, don't you?

CCEE1404 Bright Flowers

Sabrina challenged us to "bring some colour to January with some bright flowers".  Here are mine:

Now I know there are no tulips and Hollyhocks or gladiolas to bloom in January in Massachusetts, but they are colorful, aren't they?

Please join us in making some bright flowers. Be sure to link your card or project HERE.

CCEE Special Tribute to Charlene

Our dear teammate and special friend, Charlene Merrick, passed away, after a battle with brain and liver cancer.  We believe she is now at peace, and no longer suffering.

A warm, friendly, and whimsical woman, she loved Penguins, M & M's, and the color purple.  In her honor we are adding a special addition to our weekly challenges.  Please join us in remembering LilLuvsStampin'.

Here is Charlene's beautiful card from her gallery on SCS:

And here is my version done in shades of purple:

CCEE1403 Poetry Inspiration

Sabrina challenged us to be inspired by the words and imagery of this poem.

Ars Poetica by Archibald MacLeish

A poem should be palpable and mute
As a globed fruit,

Dumb
As old medallions to the thumb,

Silent as the sleeve-worn stone
Of casement ledges where the moss has grown -

A poem should be wordless
As the flight of birds.
*
A poem should be motionless in time
As the moon climbs,

Leaving, as the moon releases
Twig by twig the night-entangled trees,

Leaving, as the moon behind the winter leaves,
Memory by memory the mind -

A poem should be motionless in time
As the moon climbs.
*
A poem should be equal to:
Not true.

For all the history of grief
An empty doorway and a maple leaf.

For love
The leaning grasses and two lights above the sea -

A poem should not mean
But be.

Here is my card:

Thanks for looking.  Please join us in this wonderful challenge and link HERE.

CCEE1402 Bordered Sentiment

Our challenge from Sabrina this week is to make a card using a technique called Bordered Sentiments, which you can find HERE on SplitCoastStampers.

It's an easy tutorial, and one I'll use again, as I was unfamiliar with it.

Please join us, and link your card on our BLOG.

Feel Better Soon!

A Cyber friend had gall bladder surgery yesterday.  This card was made this morning for her......and the best part is, now that she's had the surgery, she's feeling MUCH better.  Been there, done that.  what a relief it is to be able to eat and not go into those awful spasms!!  I think she will like this!

A Terrible Loss

Our CCEE teammate, Charlene Merrick (aka LilLuvsStampin) passed away after a battle with liver and brain cancer.  She was the sweetest woman ...... gentle, kind, and full of good humor.  We will miss her terribly.  Julia Aston and I were to get together with her two summers ago when she was in our area, but the night before she was rushed to the hospital, and had her gall bladder removed.  She went home to recuperate.  We kept in touch by internet, and when she was diagnosed with cancer, we sent her cards of cheer every week.  I cased a card of hers to send to her family to let them know how much I personally cared about her.

The only blessing is that she is now at peace and the pain and suffering she was enduring is done.  Remembering you with love, dear friend.

CCEE1401 Teddy Bear's Picnic

Our hostess for the month of January is Sabrina Friel.

Here is her challenge:
A party with a twist to celebrate the New Year.  Bring your teddy bear along, but you must include something old and something new, and tell us what they are.

My designer paper from Creative imaginations is old, and my distress markers are new.

I love this little person from Whipper Snapper stamps, and by adding a bow, the toddler becomes a girl.

Please feel free to join us, and link your card HERE, so we can enjoy it too.
