Mixed Media

My friend Julia and I have signed up for a couple of classes in August to learn how to make Art Journals.  The class is being taught by Dina Wakley who is a Mixed Media artist.  As a result of taking the class, we had to buy a number of things that we'll be using, and since this is all new to me, I thought I should try something Mixed Media.  Here is the card I just made:

I applied acrylic paint, bubble wrap, spackle (with a stencil), then distress ink that was spritzed with water on a rubber stamp.  I stamped a saying to make it a get well card.  I think it's not too bad for a first effort.  Next time, I'll use the background to add a die cut or something other than a stamp.

Thanks for looking.  If you have any recommendations as to how I should progress, feel free to let me know.

CCEE1426 Sunglasses

For my last challenge, I chose the theme Sunglasses.

Now that the sun is directly overhead, we all need to be protecting our peepers, right Joanne?  Please make a card that  uses sunglasses.

Here's mine:

I had fun with some die cuts....waves, cloud, glasses....to make this card.  I can think of a lot of different sayings to put inside.  I 'll decide when I send it.

I hope you will join us, and will link your card HERE.

See you next Thursday with a new hostess and a new month of challenges.

CCEE1425 White

There are 2.4 million June brides in America every year.  It became known as the "marriage month" during the Middle Ages - because - people were clean after taking their ANNUAL MAY BATHS!!!  Please make an all white card.

Here's mine:

I posted two views so you could see the dimension of the flowers, leaves and doves.  I think this would be nice as either a wedding or anniversary card.

Please join us this week, and post your card to our BLOG.

Fabric Roses

Our challenge at SCS was to go to a specific site in Pinterest that had a lot of beautiful journals.  I chose this beauty

as the inspiration for my card.  I loved the partial rose, the canvas-type bg, and the Japanese binding.  Here's the one I made based on it:

It could actually be part of the CCEE 1424 challenge as well..........make a card with roses! Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

CCEE1424 June Roses

June is the month when roses begin to bloom. I challenged the group to make a card with a lot of roses.  Here's mine:

I took this picture against a sheet of white paper so you could see that the color is vanilla. The roses are, of course, RED and pale yellow.

Please feel free to join us, linking your card to our BLOG.

Window on the Ocean

There is a challenge I never knew about on SCS, to case a Dirty Girl (one of the Dirty Dozen, past or present), and put it in a special gallery.

Here's the card I made, casing one by Jane France.  If you go to my gallery (click on the badge at the right), you can see all the info.

CCEE1423 Cash, Coins, or Green

I am the hostess for the month of June.  Here is the card for our first challenge -
The first Monday in June is Bank Holiday in Ireland.  In honor of our member from the Emerald Isle, please make a card using cash, coins or green.

I used a background designer paper that looks like money, and is certainly green.  Just for a fun change, I made a card for a friend who is ailing.  She will laugh when she sees this iguana and the saying!

The frame and yucky guy are popped up.

Please join us, linking your card to our BLOG, and if uploading to SCS, be sure to add CCEE1423 to your keyword.
