Emboss Resist

The challenge today was twofold, and involved using a technique I don't often do.  I love the look of emboss resist, but it always makes a mess.

I cased a card of Wanda Cullen's (cullenwr) from SCS, as we were asked to find someone whose birthday was close to our own. Ours are two days apart.

Wanda makes beautiful cards, and I kept her layout, changing only the colors and ef.

Christmas is behind us, New Year's ahead.  The days sure fly by.  Hope you are looking forward to the New Year.  I'm pretty good at remembering the new number for the month of January, but after that I really slip up!

Have a great day, all!

Sparkle Background

Back to Winter.  the card, not the weather (yet).  the challenge was to make a card with sparkle, and this is sure it.  I must tell you that the brad in the middle of the flake is white and sparkly.  It was very hard to take the photo today.

My sweet Son-in-law is coming today to pick up all the gifts my DD had delivered here.  YAY!  I get my sunporch back!  He's bringinig two gift cards my DD picked up for me, so that finishes up the shopping for this year.  DOUBLE YAY!

We are having a very low-key Christmas.  I've done none of my Swedish baking or cooking.  My hands are just not up to the task (and confidentially I had no enthusiasm to do it), so it will be regular food.  Some will care, but food is food, and we are all good eaters.

Have a safe and happy holiday.  Much love to you all from our house.

It's Spring!

I know it's not Spring, but I am tired of the same old colors.  Also, today is full of sunshine, and it doesn't look like December at all.

This card is for the Sketch Challenge at SCS.  I altered it a bit to accommodate the chevrons...they were supposed to be a strip.

I added some clouds in the bg, and used my brand new nestie labels (and also the new chevrons).  What fun to have new stuff.

Have a great day!

CHF16 - Winter

This week I am your Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge hostess.  The theme is Winter.

I used Thomas Kinkade's "Graceland Christmas" (TK - 124T) from CHF.

The image is inked in nave on blue papre, backed with navy.  There's a snowflake with the sentiment on the white ribbon.

Please join us adding your card HERE, and maybe you will win some fabulous stamps!!

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!  Today I am basking in the beautiful sunshine, although the temperature will not go above 35 degrees today.  Snow tomorrow.  Enjoy what you have today......the moral of the story.

Mom and I made this floral card this morning for the Inspiration Challenge at SCS.  It was quick and easy (we like that!), and will work for just about anything we want to send a card for. (This is my 2nd preposition ending sentence of the morning.  Please don't tell my English teacher son!)

Here's hoping that, in the light of the news from CT, you will find time to hug your children. Love to you all.

CCEE1250 Santa......

Welcome back to the CCEE Challenge!  This is our last for 2012.  Wow.  Where did the time go?

Our hostess Frances challenged us to make something using Santa, as the theme is "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".

My card uses a Rubbernecker (209-07 Winter Holiday #4 - Santa) image, and I just LOVE his sweet face.

Please join us, linking your card HERE.  Have a wonderful Holiday, and come see us in the New Year!!!

An Extra

I made a card yesterday, and was so busy I didn't have time to post.  It was made for the Inspiration Challenge, and I was really pleased with the way it came out.  Feels good to be done with Christmas cards!

CCEE1249 Favorite New Die

Welcome back to another CCEE Challenge.  This week, Cindy Haffner told us she wanted to see our Favorite New Die.

I had to use the new bird and birdhouse I got from Quikutz.  I think it's just adorable..especially with my old fave, the fence punch, and the Quikutz branch.

The sentiment is only one line from a Rubbernecker sentiment (508 - garden Phrase Set).  I just love that their images are so great, and the sayings are so multi-purpose!

Be sure to join us, and link your card HERE.  We'll see you again next Thursday!

CHF15 - Christmas Box or Bag

Our hostess this week is Frances, who challenged the Cornish Heritage Farms DT to make a Christmas Box or Bag.

I made my box out of Heidi Grace double sided designer paper.  The first picture shows that it REALLY is a box, and the second shows better the view from the top.

The cardinal image is, of course, from CHF (Cardinal 300M- Digi), and it's painted with watercolors.  It's done with a technique called "out of the box", and mounted on a circle atop the box.

I added some punched greens and flowers, and rolled a rose.  There is a big pearl in the rose, and liquid pearls in the small flowers.

Please join us this week, linking your card HERE, and maybe you will win some imiages!!

See you in two weeks with another challenge!

CHF Winter Village

My card today is a case of one by Julia, our QFTD at SCS.  Her card has a BEE, mine is certainly a different theme.

This is a digi stamp by Cornish Heritage farms called Winter Village (1083K), and using Gimp, I changed the black to purple for this card.

It's also for the Free 4 All challenge...fruits and veggies.  One of the options was to use a color for the theme, so I chose grape.  I just couldn't get my act together for a fruit or veg card.  Christmas is still on the table top!

Have a great day.

CCEE1248 Ribbon Lacing

Our last CCEE challenge of the month for our hostess Vicky Gould is Ribbon Lacing.  We were told we could lace through a bracket, piece of lattice work, cardstock......whatever.

I laced the RED ribbon through holes made with a punch, then tied a bow.  The snowman is a Sizzix die cut, and I think he is just the cutest!

Please join us, linking your card HERE, and we'll see you in December!

Christmas in Saffron

I love to make Christmas cards in non-traditional colors.  This one uses Saffron, a pale shade of yellow.

The center is cut out with an oval floral nestability.  The image is from SU - Lovely as a Tree, one of my all-time favorites, and sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I made this specifically for the Featured Stamper (thecircleguru) at SCS today, changing a number of things she did to make it my own.  I hope she likes it(and you too!).

Have a great day.......we'll be joined by #2 son and family today for some food and football.

Glitter for Sue

Our Queen for the Day, Sue, will be enjoying a lot of cards made in her honor.  I hope she likes this one I cased from her wonderful gallery.

I hope you can see the powdery glitter on the panel with the ornament.  IRL it's very pretty.

We had a fab Thanksgiving...good food, even if I do say so myself (the cook), and fun being with the family.  I hope yours was as good as ours.  To top it off, our Pats won BIG!!

CCEE1247 Challenge

Welcome to another CCEE challenge.  Our hostess for the month of November is Vicky Gould.

She challenged us to make a card using Brown,, Yellow, and Orange, along with designer paper (any size or shape).

I made a very simple card using the A2 size, with some wonderful Fall paper.  I used a leaf stamp and a Thanksgiving sentiment to go with my ribbon and acorn charm.

Please join us, linking your card HERE, and come back again next Thursday for CCEE1248.

I would like also to wish my daughter Amy the happiest birthday ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irish Dancer

For those of you that had the interest to come here, this is our beautiful granddaughter, Erin, in her solo dress.  I couldn't resist a little bragging!!  And I have to tell you, that as gorgeous as she is, she is just that nice, sweet, and pleasant too.  (Her brothers may not agree, but EVERYONE else does!!)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

CHF14 Trees!

Our Hostess Kristine Reynolds challenged us to make a card with trees............Fall trees, Christmas trees, snowy trees, etc.

I embossed this tree using only part of the folder.  With a dark green background, and white cardstock, I added a RED bow, and sentiments (NEW! from Night Before Christmas - CHF) in green and RED.

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you! AND - if you do, you could win a $10 Gift Certificate and a Winner's Badge to put on your Blog!

To play create a card using CHF images. You can use either CHF digi or rubber stamps to create a card or project.... anything you like as long as the stamps are Cornish Heritage Farms. (Yes, they can be older stamps.)

A Few Posts

This is the card I made today for the Inspiration Challenge.  The site Stef picked had wonderful RED bowls.  I used the solid as the bg for my new Tim Holtz reindeer die cut, and the trees which I haven't used before either.  I added some snowflakes with pearls and a ribbon.  Kinda okay I think.
This card I made for Gabby, our Queen For The Day yesterday.  I cased a Halloween card she made, and used the same layout, but changed the theme, as I'm sure I didn't need to tell you.

Today my two youngest grandsons, Tommy and John, are arriving.  They are at a Boy Scout overnight, and have an empty house, since my DD, DGD, and DS-in-law are away.  What a treat to have these boys.......11, and 12, but still little boys.  They are excited to come because they know that I will craft with them.

Have a great day, wherever you are.
