CCEE1737 Roald Dahl Day!

September 13th was Roald Dahl Day.  Kelly challenges us to create a card using any one of his books as inspiration.

My kids' favorite was "Fantastic Mr. Fox", so that's what inspired my card.

CCEE1735 Monochromatic Card with Die Cuts

For my last challenge of the month:

I once did a challenge on SCS, asking our fellow crafters to make a one color card, and using only die cuts (you can also use punches).  The results were wonderful..  Let's do that again!  (Here's a link to that challenge  Technique Challenge )

This card was very hard to photograph......the paper is actually a very light shade of blue.  I realized after it was finished I had put the toe grips for the flipflops upside down.  Mea Culpa.

I used a number of different die cuts, and it was really fun!

Please join us again this week, and be sure to post your card on our BLOG where we can enjoy it too.

CCEE1734 Water Color

My challenge to the team, and to you, is to make a background using water colors, then finish the card in whatever way you wish.

This card is a case of one made for SCS by Birgit.  I loved the whole idea, and since our anniversary (54th...can you believe it??) is in two weeks, thought it would be fabulous for DH.

The bg is color washed in tumbled glass and london blue.  The owls are from Paper Smooches, with different eyes.  The birches are from Paper Trey.

Please join in on the fun, and be sure to link your card to our blog HERE.

CCEE1733 Nautical

I continue to issue the challenges this month.  As the summer draws to a close, make a card with a nautical theme.  This can include the beach if you so desire.

Here's a bit of beach.......sandcastle and shells.

CCEE1732 Insects

My challenge for you today is to make a card using bees, dragonflies, any kind of insect.  Be sure to add some stickles to their wings (if they have wings).

I stenciled a honeycomb bg in addition to using parts of a honeycomb stamp, adding bees and a hive. Gold stickles completed my card with an Amuse sentiment.

Be sure to add your card to our blog HERE.  I'll be back next week with another challenge.

CCEE1731 Emboss

This month I am the Hostess.  For my first challenge, I ask you and the team to use any technique that involves embossing - wet, dry, resist - whatever appeals to you.

I couldn't resist (no pun intended) buying a large - 5 x 7 - embossing folder.  It was so beautiful that after I ran it through my Big Shot, I knew it had to stand alone.  I sponged and used only a simple sentiment.  it's a bit early for Easter, but the lilies made me do it!!!

CCEE1730 Tall and Thin

For her last challenge, Maryann asked us to create a tall thin card (with any theme) to celebrate Walk on Stilts Day.  I couldn't resist a circus card!!

This card has images from Stampin' Up with a few tickets.....and the saying is, "have fun", which I think this card is!!

CCEE1729 Exploration

Another day on the days of the year calendar in Moon and Space Exploration Day.  Maryann challenged us to use this theme as inspiration for a card.

I made a circle card.  First I die cut the globe from Tim Holtz.  Then I cut out this cute spaceman, who obviously comes in PEACE.  It's a good thing!

CCEE1728 Rocks!

According to the days of the year calendar, today is International Rock Day.  Maryann challenges us to use the colors of stone ( gray, brown, black, white, etc.) for our cards.

I took the challenge literally, making a thank you card for a friend.  Inside it says,

"You ROCK!"

Thanks for joining me here today.  I hope you will feel like checking out the rest of the Team's cards, and want to post your own on our BLOG as well.  See you next week.

CCEE1727 Mask

Maryann is our hostess for the month of July. Her first challenge........to create a card using a mask, whether it is using a masking technique or a stamped image of a mask.

I chose this wonderful image by Rick St.Denis.  The mask is cut out separately and popped up.  The paper is from Michaels, in a Harlequin pattern.  How perfect is that???

Please join us, linking your card to our blog HERE.  See you next week!

CCEE1726 Fairy Day

For her last, Frances challenged us to include fairies on our cards (Saturday the 24th was Fairy Day).

Isn't this just the sweetest image?  I've been saving it for quite a while, and so finally it's on the cover (with all the mushrooms) as an anniversary card for my dear husband.  This year it's our 54th!!!

I hope you like what I did, and that you will join us with a card of your own.  Please post your card HERE so we can enjoy it too!

CCEE1725 Music

Frances tells us yesterday was World Music Day - Music Day and Make Music Day.  So let's include something music related on our cards this week.

I stamped a music bg, distressed it and added it to my cardstock.  Then I glued a doily onto the top, adding a punched strip.  I printed off a decoupage of a candy box, and it has three layers. I took the photo of it on an angle so you could see the layers.  Finished it off with a saying from Stampin' Up.

Thanks for joining me today.  Please enter a card of your own, and send it to our blog HERE .

CCEE1724 Flip-flop

According to the Days of the Year web site, Friday the 16th of June is Flip-Flop Day.  So for our card this week, Frances challenges us to make Flip-Flop cards.  That can be the flip-flops that are shoes, or Flip Flop cards, or you may have another flip flop idea.  Whatever works for you.

This is the outside.......and here's the flip side:

I love the soft green as a bg, and hope you do too.

Please join us, adding your card to our blog HERE .

CCEE1723 Ocean

Today is World Oceans Day.  Frances has challenged us to create something that reminds us of the ocean.

This little girl from Rubbernecker Stamps has picked some beach plum flowers growing by the side of the path leading to the beach.  They are pretty blooms, and the jelly made from the beach plums is delicious.  When I think of the Atlantic Ocean, which is where I grew up, I think of those flowers and jellies!!  There is also a sailboat in the distance, and I've always loved seeing the sails!!

Please join us this week, and every week.  Upload your card to our blog HERE.

CCEE1722 "HOLE"

Frances is our hostess for the month of June.  Here is her challenge:

"The 2nd of June is Doughnut Day so for our challenge today create something that has some type of "hole" in it.  It could be a doughnut, cheese, a fancy fold card with a hole....anything."

Here's mine:

My Hole is actually three holes........A large one for the ball, and the finger holes as well.  This is what the card looks like closed, and here it is open with white behind it so you can see it really is cut out.

Please join us, and be sure to link your card to our blog HERE.

CCEE1721 CCEE

For Lois's last challenge, she wants us to celebrate our challenge team by representing each of the letters in our name - C-C-E-E.

I used celery, chick, and cameo for the C's
and egg and evergreen for the E's

and made a little matchbox.............it's 1 3/4 " X 1 1/4" and 1/2" deep.

Here it is closed...cameo flowers, gold stickle centers, evergreen leaves, and a green brad.

Inside it says "chick's rule!", and the chick is on a spring so it pops up when opened.

Lois, I hope you enjoyed all the cards (and matchbox) I made in your honor with folds!

Please join us, linking your card or project HERE.

Busy Weekend!

Saturday morning, our youngest grandson, John, was confirmed.  The Bishop presented a fairly good sized Confirmation class, and the service was wonderful.

Here's John, wearing his new glasses.

And after, with the family.

Last Confirmand, and Amy says........."PHEW!"

Later...............

Tommy and Sophia went to the Junior Prom, with a whole group of friends in a limo.

Erin just had to have a pic with her younger, but taller, brother.

Here are Tommy and Sophia Colletta:

Just heard from DD, and Tommy said they danced all night, the food was edible (chicken something), and they were all exhausted by the time they got to the Norum's to sleep.  I guess he woke up when someone stepped on him, but it was morning anyway.  Amy and Erin provided breakfast, and the newly licensed guy drove home.  I'm so glad they all had such a good time!!  (And didn't he look fab in his new tux???)

and, to top it off, his driver's license!!

Congratulations Tommy!  Hard to top a week like this!!!
