So tell me this....are you shocked that this isn't RED ??????? I consider pink to be in the same family, so it's RED of a sort! Today the challenge at SCS was to make a clean and simple card. I really like this.......it certainly showcases the stamp (which I love). Sometimes in the process of making a highly decorated card, I lose the message or the stamp, or the idea becomes muddy. This challenge made me realize that I need to remember just why I am creating (or not, as the case may be!). Thanks for looking and joining me today.

Green Beer!
The Ways To Use It Challenge at SCS today was to use alcohol. The first thing I thought of was a glass of wine, but no....it was to use alcohol based inks. Since I had none, I went with the theme instead, and continued my holiday cards. Green Beer fit right into the scheme of things today. I went online and looked, and found out Green Beer is made by adding food coloring to beer! How gross and yucky is that??? Whoever started this was obviously crazy! Thanks for joining me today, and thanks for looking.

Frog Kisses
What a fun day I had yesterday! I went to PT (Not so much fun!), met my BFF for lunch, then went to M's and ACM. Everything I bought was on SALE! How cool is that?! I decided it was time to try out some other use for my Cuttlebug besides embossing, and got a bunch of sizzlets and tried them out! One set I got was a group of four animals...spider (EEEAWWW!), snail, gecko, and frog. The frog just made me giggle, and since frogs are green, he fit right into my new theme. I got a little carried away, but I really like the result. I hope you do too!
This is also for the DDC, hosted by Bev (beestamper). The Dare was to use a stamp you usually put on the back, on the front instead. I generally leave the back blank, but lately have used the lips, so that's what I used on the front here. If you would like to join us in this week's Dare, just put DDC in your keyword so we can find it.
Have a great day, and I hope it's not snowing where you are (like it is here! RATS!!!)

Delivering a Shamrock
Now that I am firmly entrenched in St. Patrick's Day cards, today's colors were tough for me. The Garden Green was fine, but the two shades of blue gave me a lot of trouble. I guess that's what the challenge is really for....to make us do what we might never have thought of on our own.
With special thanks today to Stef, who sent seven Kreativ awards...one of them to me!! She listed her seven favorite things, so here are mine: I love RED, I like to read, I like stamping, I like being a Grandma, I like to eat (especially candy.....SHHH!), I like baseball, and I love being married to my Best Friend!

Another Monday, Another Technique....
I love the Monday challenge on SCS! It makes me try something new, and today I tried pleating paper to make a flower. I love the result! I have a few concerns about how it will stand up in the mail. If you have mailed one, will you PLMK how it went? If it fared okay, I will make some more...but if not......
Thanks for joining me today, and have a fun and creative day yourself!

Casing Vicky! but not in RED!
What a pleasure to find that Vicky Gould was chosen the Featured stamper today on SCS! Congrats, dear friend!! I cased her giraffe card by making a dragon birthday card for my grandson John, who will be eight on the 30th. I thought her card was adorable in RED, but I had to make some changes for it to go to a boy. I hope she likes it, and that you do too.

Bright and early
I woke up at 1:00 this morning, couldn't go back to sleep, so I checked the IC today, and got to work. I was up, but maybe bright and early doesn't apply today. Here is the card I made for the challenge. I loved the Cat In The Garden calendar, especially because the tiger cat looks like our cat, Max, did. He was an inside guy, but was good at chasing the occasional moth. I hate to add that he was petrified of ants, but he really was!! Anyway, here is Max in a tulip garden, and I'm sure he is chasing butterflies to his heart's content! Thanks for joining me today.

A Get Well Pickup
Every day I send a get well card to my Uncle who is recovering from knee surgery. I was so happy to see the LSC today...black backgrounds! Perfect for making a masculine card. He enjoys receiving cards so much, that he keeps them! How's that for a guy????? He's progressing nicely, and eventually I will taper the cards off, but since he likes them so much, I'll continue at this pace for a while.
Thanks for looking.

Can't come fast enough
Spring can't come fast enough for me. I am tired of Winter, and here it is, only the middle of January! BLEAH! No more Winter themed cards for me....I am moving on!
Today I covered two challenges with one card....The WT was to add some pizazz to patterned paper. I chose this fabulous K & Co. flowered print, and added Dazzling Diamonds with a glue pen.
The other challenge was the DDC (Doubledog Dare), hosted this week by Michelle (sf9erfan). The challenge was to case a card from the old catty, and change at least two things. I have put the catty card next to mine so you can see what changed.
As I look out the window beside me at all the snow, I have to remind myself that I am so fortunate not to have to live under a bridge somewhere. I complain (a lot, says DH), but I am so grateful to be safe and warm. Aren't we the lucky ones!! Thanks for looking today, my friends.

Charming Bunny
I really liked the sketch today, and thought it was about time I focused on another holiday, so here is my first Easter card. This bunny makes me think of something that happened many years ago. My son Paul, who was three, cam running into the house with an armfull of beautiful flowers. It turned out he had picked the prize tulips my neighbors had been coddling for years! We returned them together, and the Andersons were kind enough to tell us to keep them, and had us stay for milk and cookies! How's that for an Easter story!!
Her Own Person
I guess this is what comes of spending the day with my 86 year old FEISTY mother. My DH and I went to help her figure out her alarm system, and thankfully, there are 5 days in which she can mess up without calling the police! I called her last night, and she had a problem already, but then she called the company, and it was straightened out!! PHEW! Mom has always been her own person. This stamp even looks like she did when she was a bit younger! I'll check in with her shortly to see how she slept with a security system on...I think it's the best thing we have done for her peace of mind!!
Thanks for looking...have a great day!

Not a love story
I have a sad story to tell today. Emily's color challenge prompted this card.....
Frankie Frog is in love with Betty Butterfly! he watches her every day, as she flits from flower to flower, hoping she will notice him. He has a lovely smile, and is tremendously patient. Nevertheless, every day, she doesn't see him, and even if she did, they come from two different worlds. She comes from the world of the air, he, from the water. They don't even speak the same language...he croaks, she is mute. Love is all around, but, alas, not for them. *sigh*
This story has no ending...sometimes love is really unrequited!
I love the stamps I put together for this card... Stampendous (larger flower), Amuse (small flower), Stamp Oasis (Betty), a Flower For All Seasons - SU (Frankie), and Inspired by Nature - SU (stems). I took this photo early this morning, so it's a little dark. I hope you can see the stickles, and that you like it! Thanks for looking.

Asian Technique Challenge
Sunday, January 18, 2009
I love Sundays...leisurely coffee, read the paper, check out SCS for the Featured Stamper... This week's stamper is Lori Craig, and her gallery is fabulous. I had a number of cards I wanted to CASE, but chose Whiff of Joy. I took a photo of her card and placed it beside mine so you could see how wonderful hers is, and what I did with it. I hope you like it.

The Beginning
January 17, 2009
Saturday
With a lot of fear and trepidation, I begin a blog. I have no idea how to do this, nor where it will go. I think this will be an adjunct to my crafting submitted to SCS, but who knows? Bear with me.... I'm off on a new adventure!
