Clean = White!

Our challenge today at SCS is to make a card showing our New Year's Resolution. Here is mine, with a bit of explanation:

DH does all the laundry. He folds it, and puts my underwear away, and leaves the things to be hung up on my side of the bed. I only go upstairs to go to bed, so at night, I put the stack on the floor. In the morning when I take my shower, I choose from what's on the floor to wear for the day. IF I were to resolve, it would be to hang up my clothes and see a clean floor.

This card represents a clean floor. I figure clean equals white.

Remember, I'm retired. IFs don't go far any more!! Happy 2011 all!!

Valentine for Mom

The challenge this morning on SCS is to use silver. I love the elegance of white with it, and am starting to make valentines. I think my Mom will really like this. I used the butterfly from MFP's new set, Hearts Hearts Hearts. It didn't hurt that I had soome really cute butterfly beads and a heart charm in silver to add to the cord! Hope you like it.

I'm off for the day with DH......sort of a DATE day! LOL! Catch up with you later.

RED Hat for Joyce

This card will go out to a lady who is fighting a real battle. She is a member of the RED Hat Society, so of course those were my color choices. The cb embossing on the side is from the folder YOU, and has some wonderful words.

I posted this in two galleries at SCS today, the Teapot Tuesday and Sketch Challenges, as it fulfilled both.

We are missing our beautiful and sweet granddaughter, Erin. She went home last night, after spending a few days crafting, reading with her new Nook, baking, and bubbling in the hot tub. We love to have her, and hope she will join us again soon. She had to go home for practices for competitive Cheerleading. You should see her do a SPLIT! AMAZING!! To those of you who commented on her cards, may I thank you? She was delighted with your remarks.

Have a great day!

two for the Color Challenge

Here are the cards Erin and I made for the Color Challenge today on SCS.
Mine is the cupcake, hers is the shirt. I think they both came out great!!
We will miss our sweet granddaughter. She goes home tonight when Daddy picks her up. We'll be glad to have her back ANYTIME!!

Casing our FS, LeisaJane

Here is the card I made to honor our Featured stamper, LeisaJane, on SCS.  If you check in at my gallery, you can fiind the details.

Christmas went by so fast.  Amazing.........the preparations take forever, and then, WHOOSH! it's gone.  We had a wonderful day, the kids had a blast, the food and drinks went in a hurry, and dessert was made by my DGD Erin (a pink champagne/raspberry cake!! YUM!)  I took some awful pictures, but expect to have a couple of decent ones from my kids.  Here's a pic of my DH and me, and Mom,with the grands.  Don't  you just LOVE the kitchen light fixture in the center???

Festive New Year's

Since I had a very busy day yesterday, I am uploading a card for both challenges, SC and WT.

I need to make just a few New Year's cards, so with Mom, here is our joint venture.

Yesterday I went to PT, then to the car dealership a few towns away, and bought a new car. Went with DH to his office, the bank (of course), out to lunch, and then to the Registry. When I went to get the car, they told me my license had expired last May! DUH! So I had a FAB time at the Registry, and then went to collect my broken car at the repair shop, which meant I had to go by all the malls. Gridlock! By the time I got home, that was enough for me. Mom arrived, and we sat in the kitchen with some wine to unwind as it snowed, and that was the best part of the day!!!

Hope you like OUR card. Mom says Hello and HUGS to you all, and thanks you again for all your wonderful birthday cards for her 88th!

P.S. Mom just said we should have used RED and black hats..........DUH again1  Now she tells me! LOL!

Creative Belli Challenge #107

The Belli Challenge this week is to make a Christmas card. Easy Peasy.

Remember, the whole idea of the Belli is to use what's in your stash, not something new. Well, this image of the lightbulb has been languishing in a box of assorted Christmas stamps forevah!!

I made this for my PT guy, John. He has a tie that has these lightbulbs on it, and a squiggly green line down the center. I guess you would say the tie inspired this card. He will laugh at it!!

Have a wonderful holiday. See you in the New Year!!

A YAY and a few Boo's!!

First the YAY!  Today's color challenge is my favorite combination......RED, black and white.  No problem there.  Now for the bad news :

It's snowing.  RATS!  I forgot how much I really hate the stuff.  I will have to go out in it today to get my car, which is at the repair shop.

Now the REALLY BAD NEWS :  My 10 year old van, which I really love, needs $3000.00 worth of work.  Guess how much it's worth?? YUP. $3000.00. Figures, right?  So now I have to get a new car.  Merry Christmas to me.  I would rather put a sharp stick in my eye than have to go car shopping!  Boy, do I hate that.  The salesman always asks what you want, and all I want is a car that starts and stops when I want it to.  I don't care what color, or what snazzy features, just a darn car.  I'll keep you posted as to how long I'll be in a snit over this.  Hope your day is better than mine!!

Here's an APRON for two challenges

The two challenges today at SCS are the CAS (an apron for inspiration), and the TLC (sewing/stitching - real or faux).  I thought this was acceptable as a CAS as there are no lifted layers.  When I went to use my machine, there was already green thread in it.  How cool is that???  Hope you like this.  Have a fab day!

Owl Birthday

Today's Featured Stamper, maryrose, has a wonderful gallery.  I cased a card of hers keeping the layout and yellow, but changing the rest of the colors and images.  I added a little branch and leaves with a marker and punch.  Wear your crown and enjoy the honors heaped upon you this week, Mary!
We're going to be in front of the TV for the rest of the day, watching some football. Cross your fingers for the Patriots tonight!!

Combining Challenges

The inspiration for today was to use one of the fun jackets of Don Cherry. I chose to combine this challenge with the StampinB's.....a baby or toddler card, and Speedy the Cat's Friends. The sunflower is a CAS card done with a paintbrush, two ribbons
and a Charm from MFP.  The image of the baby was colored with markers, and I couldn't resist making the trailing blanket plaid as well.  Thanks for looking.

Roses for Mary

The challenge at SCS today was to take a break from Christmas cards, and make one for a birthday. My GF Mary has a birthday next month, and this will go to her.

I seldom make 5 1/2" square cards, but I really wanted a lot of white so the roses would show up, and I like how it turned out.

Have a great day, and hugs to you all!

Glittering Asian Flowers

Here is the card I made for the WT challenge today.....glitter.  I have a lot of the stuff, but seldom use it.  I can't keep it contained!! I prefer glitter glue......I can tell where I put it!!  The image is from SU's Just My Style, and colored with markers.  I hadn't used RED in quite a while, so here it is. I hope you like it.

Divine Diva Inspiration Challenge #42

Aren't these Christmas coasters wonderful? Lori chose a fabulous inspiration challenge for us this week!

Since I can't imagine doing any more Christmas items (enough already!), I went with the shape and overall design of the coasters. Unfortunately, I looked at them upside down, so that's the direction my card goes! Mea Culpa!! I used a variation on the colors, brown and cameo, and used Baroque Motifs for the swirl, flowers and sentiment. I hope you like it.

Please join us, and be sure to look at the rest of the DT's entries today by going to their names on my sidebar.

A Sad Day

Faith Hofrichter, the owner of Mark's Finest Papers, and Markie's Mom on SCS, lost her mother to cancer this morning. This card, using the sketch challenge will go in the mail to her today. If you go to my sidebar and click on my SCS gallery, you can pm me for her address if you would like to send her and her family a note.

How fortunate those of us are who have our mothers to love and enjoy. This is indeed a reminder to hug ALL our loved ones while we can!!

Peace to you all this lovely season.

2nd post - For the Tea Party

I made a second card today, for the Teapot Tuesday challenge. This card will go to a 15 1/2 year old girl with cancer, who is facing intensive chemo for the next YEAR!! I hope this will give her a little smile.

If you would like to send her a card too, the info is HERE. Thanks.

Thistle - one of my go-to's

When I can't decide what image to use for a card, this thistle by Expressions in Ink is pretty much my go-to stamp. I love to color it with markers, and it seems every color combination works. This time it's for the CC, gray, blue, purple. I hope you like it.

I had fun with the ribbon and pin, and couldn't resist some flowers with dewdrop centers. Have a great day.

Peaceful woods

This square card is for two challenges, the CAS and TLC. the set is from Mark's Finest Papers, and is called "A Walk in the Woods".

I'm off to PT, the bank, Target, you know how it is.....

Have a great day, and hugs to you all.

Casing Lisa, our Featured Stamper!

Lisa has the most wonderful gallery, and makes such lovely comments ...... no wonder she is Featured stamper today on SCS.

I cased a RED card of hers, and can you believe it?? I changed it to yellow!!This is a new image from Mark's Finest Papers. The set is called "Take A Peek", and I just love this raccoon face!

I cased a second card of Lisa's and kept the same colors, but changed the theme and images. this one is also MFP, called "Hello Sunshine".

We had ice last night, and cars are really creeping along. We are off to DS's for snacks, dinner and the Patriots game, but by then the temp will have risen enough to make it safe. Cross your fingers for the Pats to win, and have a great day.

This image is a new release from Mark's Finest Papers, and the set is called "Hello Sunshine". Four new sets were unveiled this week, and they are all da bomb!!

Have a great day! Hugs to you all.

Cupcake Birthday

This card using Cupcake Birthday from MFP, makes use of the Emboss Resist technique. I haven't done this a lot, and it's really easy, so I'm glad to be reminded to do it again!
I have had a busy morning. Made 2 cards, went to PT, got a haircut, talked to Mom, and it's just 10 AM. Good, huh?
Have a great day.

Casing Bobbie's Girl

Here is a case of FS186, Carol (Bobbie's Girl), whose week being featured I missed, somehow. I'm glad to right this wrong!! I used a set from MFP that will be released this coming Tuesday called Hearts, Hearts, Hearts. There will be a Blog Hop, so be sure to come here Tuesday for the first of four days.

RED and Green

Today I combined the IC and Speedy's Friends challenges to make a lighthouse card with RED and green. Of course, the green is only minor, as you know how much I love RED!

I sent out all my Christmas cards, but there is always one or two that seem to arrive unbidden, so I will have a few extras.

Have a fab day today!!

Nutcracker in Green

Isn't he a fabulous nutcracker? From Mark's Finest Papers, Christmas Postage Due has some wonderful images, but I love this guy!!

I'm off to PT - pain and torture. We are meeting the neighborhood "gang" for lunch today, and that's the extent of my plans. Hooray!

Have a great day too!

StampinB's Challenge - 2nd post today.

I just couldn't resist StampinB's challenge today......turquoise, Purple, and something shiny.

Here is another of the images in Hearts Hearts Hearts to be released next week by Mark's Finest Papers.

I have Jake, my DGS all day today, so this is it for me! Have a good one.

Divine Diva Inspiration Challenge #41

Here is the inspiration piece Lori chose for us this week. You can find it here. The box contains cupcake papers, and items on little sticks to put in the top of them. Wouldn't this be a fun gift as an early Christmas present???? Wouldn't kids love to make them?? Wouldn't we all LOVE to EAT them???!!

Here is the card I was inspired to make. I'm sure you're scratching your head, as there is nothing cupcake-y or Christmas-y involved here. To tell the truth, I am tired of making anything to do with Christmas, so instead I chose to follow the shape of the scallop circle.

I think the layers of flowers and pearls and beads make a gift sort of all their own, and loved the teal and pink with the ecru lace. It's really sizeable (6 1/2") round, so it makes a statement!! I think it's a fab birthday card to send to my BFF!

Thanks for looking today. Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has done by going to their names ono my sidebar. See you in two weeks!

Another Sneak Peek!

I just love this image.....a new release next week from Mark's Finest Papers, called "Hearts, Hearts, Hearts". I barely colored the flowers.....I think it looks great!!

Happy December. December? Oh Man!! I have 2 grands yet to buy for, give checks to my children, and do something crafty for Mom. Time is running out. Where did it all go?
